London and Lagos: time difference and best meeting times

Computed from the platform's time zone data for 2026. Last updated 6 October 2026.

London and Lagos are on the same time for most of 2026. With a 9:00 to 17:00 working day in both places, you share up to 8 hours each day, which is enough for a full block of meetings.

Shared working hours

The table assumes a working day of 9:00 to 17:00 in both cities. Times are local to each city. January and July show the two ends of the year, because daylight saving changes the picture.

Season	Time difference	Shared hours	Shared window in London	Shared window in Lagos
January (15 January)	1 hour	7 hours	09:00 to 16:00	10:00 to 17:00
July (15 July)	None	8 hours	09:00 to 17:00	09:00 to 17:00

Put recurring meetings inside the shared window, and use the rest of the day for focused work. A good default slot is 12:30 to 13:30 in London, which is 12:30 to 13:30 in Lagos. With this much overlap you can alternate which side sits closer to the edge of their day, so one team is not always the one meeting early.

With a longer day, 08:00 to 18:00

If people on both sides can start an hour earlier and finish an hour later, the shared time becomes 9 hours in January and 10 hours in July. In January that is 08:00 to 17:00 in London, which is 09:00 to 18:00 in Lagos. In July it is 08:00 to 18:00 in London, which is 08:00 to 18:00 in Lagos.

How the difference changes in 2026

Dates	Difference
1 January to 28 March	Lagos is 1 hour ahead of London
29 March to 24 October	London and Lagos are on the same time
25 October to 31 December	Lagos is 1 hour ahead of London

The gap between London and Lagos is not constant. United Kingdom and Nigeria do not move their clocks on the same dates, so the difference changes 2 times in 2026. A meeting that sits comfortably in the shared window for part of the year can land outside it for a few weeks. Check the table above whenever you set a recurring meeting that spans a change.

Tips for teams in London and Lagos

Name both cities in the invitation, for example "12:30 to 13:30 London / 12:30 to 13:30 Lagos".
Check recurring meetings when clocks change. The gap is 1 hour instead of 0 hours for part of the year, so the shared window moves.
Keep the shared 7 hours for meetings, and do focused work outside it.
